I wanted to give you a trip status.  I arrived in Taipei yesterday at about 5 a.m. with a pretty good
story to follow up the pick-up at the airport.  I'll have to tell you that story some other time (it's not
bad).  I was picked up by Professor Shu-Chuan Huang who was very nice.  She answered my questions very
well and we had a chance to talk about helping out TA for her Cadence laboratory.  As of now, it seems
that will work out, and we will have the opportunity to do so.  I have had the pleasure to taste the foods
of Taiwan which for the most part has been very interesting, all good though.  I have met with many of the
professors which include Chau-Yun Hsu, Shu-Chuan Huang, Chi-Fang Huang, and Jie-Cherng Liu to name a few.
We have gone out for lunch the past few days and had the chance to get to know one another and I think
that I will be a good fit here.  I have also had the Chance to meet many students from Tatung University
both graduate and undergraduate.  I have been helped out immensely and everyone has been really
courteous.  I have had the chance to take a tour of campus and it is very nice.  It will be a nice campus
to study and gain a different perspective on electrical engineering aspects.

We will also have our own office in the electrical engineering building on campus to help teach English
and hold office hours.  Another great thing that they will have us do is to take a Chinese course at the
National Normal University.  I think that will be a great way to learn the language.  We might have to
mess with our schedule but Shu-Chuan Huang said she would help us out with that.

Currently we are in the process of obtaining our Alien Resident Certificate which has to be done in the
first 15 days of arriving in Taipei.

I have only been here for 2 days and I must say, this is going to be a great semester.  Everyone is very
friendly and interesting to talk to and I think they will enjoy our study abroad.  I talked to Professor
Chi-Fang Huang, and he mentioned that they are striving for international study to become more globalized
and more diverse.  I tend to agree with him.  By the way, he is a very funny person and has many good
stories.

I have no doubt that we will be great ambassadors to Iowa State University and the US.  I will keep
sending emails to keep you informed on the study abroad experience.
